The topic of this week are
captive pandas, most people think about them as adorable, cuddling, and
harmless creatures. And they’re right, most of captive pandas are that way, but
not everything is good, they are lazy, bad breeders, and can be aggressive.
Pandas live like kings, chomp
bamboo most of their day, and their food is usually nearby, so they don’t have
the need of hunting preys like their siblings (polar bear, gray bear). They are
really slow because of this, they don’t have to be fast anyways, just lay on
the floor, eat, and entertain people.
At National Zoo in China, the
animal keepers tried to breed a pair of panda bears for almost 20 years, they
gave born to five cubs, but all them died. “They have no libido, no interest in
repopulating the species,” - Brian Barret wrote for Gizmodo in the article
“Should We Just Let Pandas Die Off Already?
Giant pandas are very dangerous, because
they are territorial, there have been many cases of people attacked by them in
Zoos, we’ll tell you about a zoo from Beijing. A drunken man jumped into the
panda enclosure to try to pet it, but his leg was bitten, he wasn’t expecting
the claws and fangs of the cute bear.
